Extensive tea menu If you love your teas, or just discovering the different tastes available, come along to the tearoom and try the new loose-leaf teas on offer. Our new house tea is a Sri Lankan (Ceylon) tea from the Mackwoods tea house - brewed using the labookellie broken orange pekoe leaf. A great tea from the misty hills of Sri Lanka, it goes well with chocolate cake - as served on the estate itself!
For our full range of teas, please go to Old Dairy Tearoom for details
To serve our teas, we use T-Sacs.These are non-chlorinated open-ended teabags in which we put the loose leaf tea of your choice; once in water, they self-seal to prevent the leaves escaping into your pot. The t-sacs are available to buy in packs of 100. All our teas and coffee are available to buy. Retail packs start at £1.50 for 50g.
Superior Coffee Our coffee is ground and roasted for us by James Gourmet Coffee at Ross-on-Wye. Our house blend is a combination of 100% arabica beans from 9 different coffee plantations across Africa & South America.
It is a great espresso bursting with flavour: traditional monsooned India Malabar as the carrier, co-operative Sumatran for depth, sundried Ethiopian for a lingering, chocolatey, earthy finish and the famous award winning Waterfall Farm Cachoeira Bourbon from Brazil for sweetness. Enjoy it as a straight up espresso, frothy cappuccino, or milky smooth latte. We serve coffees with whole milk as standard, but semi-skimmed, skimmed and soya alternatives are available. Our dairy milk comes from Pedigree Jersey cows in Abergavenny.
Food Menu A Daily Specials lunch board serves up substantial fayre all day alongside our regular menu of homemade soups and traditional sandwiches, jacket potatoes and speciality sandwiches. Our specialities are afternoon and cream teas. Large scones, organic and homemade jams, homemade cakes and freshly made farmhouse sandwiches feature to make our afternoon teas something to remember.
A gluten-and-dairy-free cake is always available on the menu (as long as we have not sold out before we get chance to bake another!). We are also able to offer soya alternatives to milk and butter. If you have any other dietary requirements, please feel free to call or email us before planning a special trip to the tearoom so we can make sure there is something suitable on the menu for you.
The tearoom is not licenced, however you are welcome to bring your own wine. If you are booking a table, please let us know at the time of booking if there are any special dietary requirements
All of our produce is sourced locally and is seasonal where possible. We pride ourselves on offering excellent quality and service within the beautiful and tranquil setting of the Forest.
As well as the main tearoom, we offer shaded seating in the busy courtyard or there is a more secluded tea garden to the rear. The first floor loft conversion is ideal for meetings, breakfast meetings and functions, and is also available for private dining and celebrations.
Sunday lunch is served from 12pm every Sunday; booking is advisable to avoid disappointment. Please call the tearoom on the number below to book your table.
